Eligibility Criteria (Educational Qualification)
This is strictly a GATE-based recruitment. You need both a valid degree and a matching GATE score.
- Required Degree : BE / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engineering) / 5-year Integrated M.Tech.
- Minimum Marks : 60% aggregate (or equivalent CGPA) in the qualifying degree.
- GATE Requirement : Must possess a valid score in GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026. Older scores (2023 or before) are not valid.
- Mode of Education : Only full-time, regular, on-campus degrees are allowed. Distance or part-time degrees are not eligible.

Selection Process
The selection isn’t based on just your GATE score alone. It has two clear stages.
- Shortlisting for Interview: Candidates are shortlisted based on their valid GATE scores in a 1:12 ratio (1 post : 12 candidates).
- Personal Interview: Final merit list is based only on interview performance. GATE score is used only for shortlisting.

- UR Category : 70%
- EWS / SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / PwBD : 60%
Training & Stipend
Selected candidates undergo a one-year orientation training. The package during this period is quite attractive.

- One-time Book Allowance : ₹ 30,000/-

Salary After Training (Scientific Officer/C)
Once you successfully complete the training, you are appointed as Scientific Officer/C in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix.
- Pay in Pay Matrix : ₹ 56,100/-
- Dearness Allowance (DA) : 58% of Pay (as of 01 July 2025).
- Perks : Transport Allowance, HRA/Leased Accommodation, Medical facilities, LTC, PF, Gratuity, and Performance Linked Incentive.
Service Bond
Selected candidates need to sign a bond. It’s a standard procedure for executive level trainees.
- Bond Amount : ₹ 9,18,000/-
- Service Commitment : 3 years after training.
- The bond amount covers the 12 months stipend plus the book allowance.

Important Instructions for Candidates

- Documents Verification : Original documents (Degree, Mark Sheets, Caste certificate, NOC if employed) will be verified at the time of the interview. Without originals, you will not be allowed to attend.
- PwBD Candidates : If you have a temporary disability or a disability that is “likely to improve,” you are not eligible for reservation benefits. You must apply as a general candidate.
- Interview Travel : Outstation candidates called for an interview will be reimbursed to-and-fro 3rd AC train fare (by the shortest route).

Q2. Can I apply for NPCIL ET 2026 if I have a GATE 2023 score?
No. Only valid GATE scores from 2024, 2025, or 2026 are acceptable. GATE 2023 scores will not be considered.

No. GATE score is only used to shortlist candidates for the interview. Final selection is based 100% on your Personal Interview performance.
